Hidden reason 1
Your resume may be telling employers your age before it tells them your value.
An early graduation date, a long list of roles stretching back decades, or references to obsolete software can make your resume feel dated. Some details can also make it easier to estimate your age.
Your experience is an asset. The goal is to put the experience most relevant to the job first, without changing facts or hiding qualifications the employer needs.
What you can do today
Check: Do you need your graduation year on this resume? Is the first half of the page about your strongest, most recent work?
Try: Lead with recent results, relevant skills and concise descriptions. Shorten older roles if they are not relevant. Keep accurate dates where required.
